The Knowledge Transfer Service (STC) of Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) took part in the event Retos IATecUV: «De un reto a una solución» (*IATecUV Challenges: From Challenge to Solution*), held on 14 October at Las Naves, the Centre for Social and Urban Innovation in València. The event brought together representatives from the business, education and technology sectors to address the challenges of digital transformation and foster collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital enabling technologies.
One of the main highlights of the event was the round-table discussion «AI, Talent and Knowledge Transfer», moderated by David Úbeda, Head of the UMH Knowledge Transfer Service. Participants included Irene Recuenco and Mari Enguix from Vicky Foods; Enrique Monzón from ODEC; Manuel Juliá, President of AVALNET; and representatives from IES Dr Lluís Simarro in Xàtiva.
Artificial Intelligence, Industry and Technological Talent
The round-table discussion addressed the challenges of applying artificial intelligence in industry, with particular attention to the agri-food sector. Key topics included the automation of production processes, predictive analytics and the use of data to improve business management and meet production needs.
Another key topic was the training of professionals specialising in AI and Big Data. The exchange of perspectives highlighted the importance of aligning training content with the real challenges faced by businesses, as well as fostering connections between educational institutions and the productive sector to develop and retain technological talent in the Valencian Community.
The discussion also explored the role of collaboration between companies, educational institutions and stakeholders in the digital ecosystem in driving innovation and helping translate technological capabilities into solutions that can be applied in business settings.
Knowledge Transfer as a Link between Universities and Businesses
The UMH Knowledge Transfer Service’s participation forms part of its work to connect knowledge and technological capabilities with the needs of the business community, fostering collaboration opportunities that contribute to the development of innovative solutions.
In this context, initiatives such as Retos IATecUV provide a meeting place for the different stakeholders in the ecosystem, bringing research, training and technology closer to the challenges faced by businesses.
The event thus reinforces the importance of collaboration between the education, business and technology sectors in driving digital transformation and turning knowledge into solutions that generate economic and social value.
