The UMH Knowledge Transfer Service is responsible for carrying out all procedures aimed at protecting the results generated by UMH staff in the course of their research activities. Protection is a prior and necessary step for transferring these results to the socio-economic sectors capable of exploiting them, thereby contributing to wealth creation.

Depending on the nature of the result obtained, one form of protection or another should be chosen, distinguishing essentially between two types of property rights:

• industrial property
• intellectual property

Industrial Property refers to the set of exclusive rights protecting innovative activity manifested in new products, new processes, and new designs, as well as commercial activity through the exclusive identification of products and services offered on the market. Intellectual Property comprises a set of personal and economic rights that grant the author of a work the exclusive right to exploit it.
