New Antitumour Compounds for Colon Cancer
Natural extracts of marine origin with high in vitro cytotoxic activity and potential for the development of new cancer therapies.
TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION
This technology offer comprises a portfolio of 2 to 3 novel extracts obtained from marine organisms. These compounds have been selected for their ability to inhibit the growth of colon tumour cell lines, demonstrating greater efficacy in in vitro assays.
TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS
We have 2 to 3 extracts of marine origin that demonstrate activity in colon cancer cell models and whose composition has been partially characterised.
ADVANTAGES AND INNOVATIVE ASPECTS
There are several advantages, which can be summarised as follows:
- More than 15 years of experience in research into new antitumour agents and more than 25 years of research into the use of natural compounds.
- Extracts already characterised in in vitro models, with high development potential.
DEVELOPMENT STAGE
In vitro validation. The extracts have already demonstrated their efficacy in laboratory cell models. The technology is ready for the lead optimisation stage and progression to in vivo models, in collaboration with biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies.
APPLICATION SECTORS
- Pharmaceutical industry (oncology departments).
- Biotechnology companies specialising in drug discovery.
- Biomedical and oncology research centres.
