Computer-Aided Analysis, Simulation and Calculation of Structural Elements and Mechanical Systems

Computer-Aided Analysis, Simulation and Calculation of Structural Elements and Mechanical Systems

Computational analysis of the mechanical behaviour of structures, products and machine elements makes it possible to predict failure, identify weak points, reduce weight and material use, and propose potential redesigns and improvements.

Computer-Aided Analysis, Simulation and Calculation of Structural Elements and Mechanical Systems

TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION

Using computational analysis tools (Finite Element Analysis and dynamic simulation of mechanisms), it is possible to estimate the deformations and stresses occurring in the elements of a structure or machine as a result of the forces acting on these elements throughout their service life.

Analysis of this information can be used to predict whether a design will withstand the loads to which it is subjected or, conversely, whether it will fail. It also makes it possible to identify potential weak points in each component that need to be reinforced, as well as areas where material can be reduced or even removed.

The outcome of this analysis is better-designed mechanical components that are stronger, lighter, more cost-effective and more environmentally friendly due to reduced material use. Furthermore, analysing the integrity of a product under service loads may be essential for its certification or type approval.

TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS

  • Load-bearing structures for solar panels, advertising panels, antenna supports, etc.
  • Biomechanics and related products.
  • Drop testing.
  • Product design and optimisation.
  • Machine elements in general.

ADVANTAGES AND INNOVATIVE ASPECTS

The application and transfer of this knowledge is a fully customised service tailored to the client’s needs, as no two cases are the same. In addition, the team maintains constant communication and information exchange with the interested organisation.

In addition to providing close and personalised support, our group places particular emphasis on providing the end client with clear and straightforward reports, using accessible language and presentation formats that are easy to understand, so that they can make the most of the results obtained.

It is also worth highlighting that our team has extensive experience in this type of analysis applied to machine elements and vehicle structures.

DEVELOPMENT STAGE

Thanks to the experience gained by the research group through projects of this type in recent years, the knowledge can currently be applied successfully.

In addition, the group currently has the computer equipment and software required to undertake this type of project.
