Consultancy on the Organisation and Management of Film Festivals and Similar Events

We provide advice and support to public and private organisations, as well as cultural event organisers, on the planning and organisation of film-related cultural events. This includes guidance on target audiences; promotion and outreach strategies for international audiences or specific geographical areas; programme design; strategic positioning; staffing requirements; communication campaigns; writing, producing and editing books and catalogues; and organising parallel activities, among other aspects.

The service is aimed at public and private organisations (including local councils, private companies and educational institutions at different levels), as well as cultural event organisers seeking to review or evaluate their projects. It is suitable for those interested in expert advice on proposing and organising competitions, film festivals, non-competitive screenings and film-related cultural events such as workshops, seminars and conferences, regardless of the age group they target.

The consultancy can cover the entire process, from the initial planning stages through to the final phase of the event, including any parallel activities. Alternatively, support can be provided for specific stages, depending on the client’s needs. The service draws on more than 20 years of professional and academic experience in film festivals, supported by publications, research and ongoing work on events of this kind. We offer a personalised service and can travel to the client’s location if required. Support ranges from basic guidance and advice to assistance in identifying and sourcing the services needed. This may also involve drawing on the university’s own resources, including professional and academic expertise, as well as student placements under academic supervision.

Her research expertise in film festivals dates back to 2000, when she began work on her doctoral thesis, completed in 2003 and published in 2006. She also has extensive practical experience in this type of event, dating back to 1998. Her roles have included consultant to the Elche International Independent Film Festival, jury member, event promoter, organising secretary, public relations and media liaison, and assistant director. She currently advises the festival as a jury member. She has also organised literary and short-film competitions. She currently directs the UMH Zoom In University Festival and the Ágora UMH competition.
