Consultancy on Mural Art Projects in Educational Institutions

Information and recommendations for planning and delivering mural art projects in primary schools, secondary schools and sixth-form colleges.

TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION

The knowledge offered for transfer is based on my academic background as a Doctor of Fine Arts, my teaching experience in the Painting module of the Fine Arts degree in the public university system, and, above all, my practical experience as an artist responsible for delivering a range of mural art projects. Many of these mural painting projects have been carried out in educational institutions spanning different age groups, during school hours and as extracurricular or complementary activities. A distinctive feature of some of these projects is the involvement of both teachers and the students themselves. This experience and expertise are offered to provide guidance on designing proposals for mural painting projects within educational settings.

TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS

The proposed consultancy service for the design and delivery of mural art projects is aimed at primary schools, secondary schools and sixth-form colleges. Teachers in these institutions face a wide range of options and variables when planning a project, including the choice of themes, visual style, iconography, integration into the space and composition. The delivery of the activity also involves decisions about techniques, materials, procedures, wall preparation and student participation. Our role is to provide guidance on these challenges and needs, offering recommendations to teachers and project leads throughout the entire mural project. Our recommendations and advice, presented in a report, will support the design of mural projects through an assessment of the initial proposals and conditions, taking into account the relevant variables and potential challenges.

ADVANTAGES AND INNOVATIVE ASPECTS

The following advantages and innovative aspects highlight the value of this knowledge transfer and research offering, drawing on the experience gained through teaching and delivering various mural art projects:

  • Assessment and analysis of the general conditions for delivering mural art projects in educational institutions.
  • Preparation of a report based on an assessment of the conditions and needs identified by the educational institution or the teachers involved.
  • Guidance throughout the entire project.

DEVELOPMENT STAGE

Among the various artistic activities used to support learning in primary and secondary schools are projects that combine painting techniques with the use of spaces within educational institutions. We have applied our knowledge and experience in several educational projects, helping primary and secondary school teachers work with their students on mural projects within their schools.
