(Español) El éxito de la transferencia de conocimiento – Podcast Transferencia al Aire
13 October 2026
Transferencia al aire is the podcast of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) Knowledge Transfer Service. It is a space where we connect academia with the business and social sectors, bringing research, innovation and knowledge closer to those who can apply them and turn them into value.
In this episode, we interview Professor Antonio Ferrer Montiel, a researcher at Miguel Hernández University of Elche and the Institute for Research, Development and Innovation in Health Biotechnology (IDiBE), with an outstanding scientific and entrepreneurial track record. We discuss one of the most significant recent milestones in knowledge transfer at the UMH: the approval in the United States of the medicine TRYPTYR®, initially developed through university research and transferred via the spin-off company Avizorex Pharma.
Throughout the programme, we explore how a patent leads to a medicine approved by the FDA, what this process involves, the technical, financial and regulatory challenges it entails, and the key role played by pharmaceutical companies and spin-offs along the way. We also reflect on the importance of protecting and transferring knowledge to achieve a genuine social impact.
An episode that offers an inside look at how university science is turned into real-world solutions for global health.
