Who will use it? What evidence is needed? Is it viable from a clinical, technological and regulatory perspective? Are there opportunities for adoption or knowledge transfer?<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1em\">The <strong>Health R&amp;D&amp;I Validation and Value Assessment Pilot, \u201cValidate Before You Advance\u201d<\/strong>, has been created to help research teams answer these questions and generate evidence before undertaking further development or significant investment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>The programme is structured around four steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1.8em\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>01 \u00b7 Define:<\/strong> Clarify the need, the users and the problem that needs to be addressed.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>02 \u00b7 Validate:<\/strong> Gather evidence through interviews, stakeholder analysis and a review of the relevant landscape.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>03 \u00b7 Assess value:<\/strong> Review the value proposition, the initial value case and potential routes for value creation and knowledge transfer.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0\"><strong>04 \u00b7 Decide:<\/strong> Develop a realistic roadmap to move forward, pivot or generate further evidence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top: 2.2em;margin-bottom: 0.6em\">Who is it for?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1em\"><strong>Research projects addressing real-world healthcare needs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0.7em\">The programme is aimed at projects in the early stages of development, with the potential to progress towards clinical practice, value creation or knowledge transfer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>Projects must meet the following requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1.8em\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>Technological maturity:<\/strong> Projects at <strong>TRL 1\u20134<\/strong>, from initial research or formulation through to proof of concept or early-stage validation.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>Healthcare application:<\/strong> Projects related to healthcare, diagnosis, prevention, healthcare training, healthcare organisation, or biomedical and digital technologies.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>Potential for further development:<\/strong> Potential for value creation, knowledge transfer, adoption or further development.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>Team commitment:<\/strong> Availability to participate in sessions, mentoring and work between meetings.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0\"><strong>Connection with ISABIAL:<\/strong> At least one researcher involved in the project must be affiliated with or attached to <strong>ISABIAL<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top: 2.2em;margin-bottom: 0.6em\">What will be addressed?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0.7em\">During the programme, each project will be assessed from <strong>four complementary perspectives<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1.8em\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>01 \u00b7 Clinical:<\/strong> Need, user, value and fit within healthcare practice.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>02 \u00b7 Market:<\/strong> Customer, decision-maker, alternatives and adoption opportunities.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.55em\"><strong>03 \u00b7 Regulatory:<\/strong> Requirements, risks and evidence needed.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0\"><strong>04 \u00b7 Technology:<\/strong> Maturity, feasibility and technical risks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top: 2.2em;margin-bottom: 0.6em\">Timeline<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1em\"><strong>October\u2013December 2026.<\/strong> The programme will combine mentoring sessions, technical sessions and online tutorials, with work between meetings to advance the validation of each project.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"margin-top: 1.5em;margin-bottom: 0.5em\">October<\/h4>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1.2em\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>Kick-off and problem framing:<\/strong> Initial session and definition of the work plan.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>First mentoring session:<\/strong> Review of initial progress and resolution of questions.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>User and value proposition:<\/strong> Work on users, needs and the value proposition.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0\"><strong>Clinical and regulatory validation:<\/strong> Review of the main clinical and regulatory aspects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"margin-top: 1.5em;margin-bottom: 0.5em\">November<\/h4>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1.2em\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>Market evidence and fit:<\/strong> Analysis of the landscape, stakeholders and adoption opportunities.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>Second mentoring session:<\/strong> Review of progress and guidance for the next stage.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>From fit to value case:<\/strong> Development and validation of the initial value case.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>Value creation and knowledge transfer:<\/strong> Analysis of potential routes for value creation and knowledge transfer.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0\"><strong>Third mentoring session:<\/strong> Preparation of conclusions and next steps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 style=\"margin-top: 1.5em;margin-bottom: 0.5em\">December<\/h4>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1.8em\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0\"><strong>Communication, presentation and next steps:<\/strong> Closing of the programme, presentation of results and definition of the roadmap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"margin-top: 2.2em;margin-bottom: 0.6em\">What will each project gain?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1em\"><strong>Evidence to support better decisions.<\/strong> Each project will complete the pilot with a practical summary of the work carried out and clear guidance on its next steps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>The process will provide:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 1.8em\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\">A clearer definition of the <strong>need and problem<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\"><strong>Validated hypotheses<\/strong> and identification of those that still require further validation.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\">A <strong>refined value proposition<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\">Identification of the main <strong>clinical, regulatory and technological risks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\">An <strong>initial value case<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\">Guidance on potential routes for <strong>value creation and knowledge transfer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 0.5em\">A <strong>roadmap with key milestones and required resources<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li
