Therefore, the main application sectors for the technology developed are the academic and healthcare sectors.<\/p>\n<p>The patient safety research networks in which SAFEST&#8217;s promoters participate at national, pan-European (ERNST Consortium) and Latin American (LATAM) levels facilitate the transfer of the technology to the education sector and also to the healthcare sector through the healthcare institutions linked to the participating educational institutions in the different networks.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"w-full px-3 print:!w-full \"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p><!-- ADVANTAGES AND INNOVATIVE ASPECTS --> <\/p>\n<section style=\"margin-bottom: 2rem\">\n<h3 style=\"background-color: #a6192e;color: #fff;padding: 0.5rem 1rem;border-radius: 4px 4px 0 0;font-size: 1.1rem\">ADVANTAGES AND INNOVATIVE ASPECTS<\/h3>\n<div style=\"border-left: 4px solid #B6A19E;padding-left: 1rem;background-color: #f9f9f9;padding: 1rem\">\n<p>To the best of our knowledge, SAFEST is one of the first initiatives to adapt traditional safety incident reporting systems to the specific needs of students in healthcare disciplines and to incorporate gamification for cooperative learning purposes. We are only aware of one similar proposal that uses game-based features (escape room) to simulate risk situations that culminate in incident reporting among residents (Zhang et al., <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.7759\/cureus.4014\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10.7759\/cureus.4014<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The main advantages or distinctive features of SAFEST are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A tool adapted to the learning needs of students in healthcare disciplines (rather than residents or healthcare professionals).<\/li>\n<li>Allows participation in teams of two to three students.<\/li>\n<li>Not limited to analysing the causes of the incident (immediate and latent), but also incorporates the proposal of preventive or corrective measures (solution-oriented approach).<\/li>\n<li>Provides and enables feedback on submitted reports through a peer assessment process.<\/li>\n<li>A gamified approach that allows students to obtain rewards in the form of academic credits and access to other direct rewards.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<p><!-- DEVELOPMENT STAGE --> <\/p>\n<section style=\"margin-bottom: 2rem\">\n<h3 style=\"background-color: #a6192e;color: #fff;padding: 0.5rem 1rem;border-radius: 4px 4px 0 0;font-size: 1.1rem\">DEVELOPMENT STAGE<\/h3>\n<div style=\"border-left: 4px solid #B6A19E;padding-left: 1rem;background-color: #f9f9f9;padding: 1rem\">\n<p>Pilot Study Phase: The tool currently has a first operational version undergoing validation with students in Spain and Latin America.
